When i got Neko I bathed him right away and then Clover so they smelled the same. I also got some canned food that I only buy as a special treat and put their bowls together and they ate at the same time..It took about 3 days for Clover to finally accept Neko, but now their great. Someone also told me that once they got a new kitten they took the water from a can of tuna and poured it all over the new kitten and locked both cats in the bathroom for a few hours and when they checked up on them they were grooming each other and they got along ever since.

ooh a bath! that's a good idea! I'm curious, how old was Neko and Clover when they first met? I think the tuna would work great on a very young cat, although i'd proably would have stayed in there to watch (but i'm paranoid like that!), but Tiber's about 3 1/2 and they think the other one is 2. I have a bad memory are Neko and Clover the same sex?

yes. i actually have 2 boxes that way if they need to go at the same time then its ok and their not bothering each other but when i had one they were fine. clover at fist after each time neko went would go over and sniff and check it out though.

fu_shu_jing directed me to feliway, which apparently worked wonders when she introduced a new cat to her older one. just type it into google and some sites will come up. we never got around to using it despite the fact that angel has FOUR cats, but as they tolerate each other just fine, there wasn't too much of a need for it (it just took a little longer for them to adjust to each other).

thanks! I never heard of that before! It looks quite intersting and sounds like a good back up plan if things start getting out of control. (oooh i'm talking like I AM going to get him hehehehe)

I'm hoping for the best, but trying to prepare for the worst :)

Tiber tends to be a calm/mellow cat most of the time, and the lady said Jarrod seems nice.. but who knows with cats, they're real personality usually dont come out until they feel comfortable!

yeah, it's really hard to know how one cat will take to another. oddly enough of angel's four, the cat with the hardest adjustment problems has always been dolly, the youngest (about 9 months old now). even when she was the new kitty, she tended to be the one to instigate terror amongst her new comarades!

good luck with adopting jarrod. i think it's a fantastic idea. then again, i always think it's a fantastic idea when a stray kitty gets a home.

If that looks like Tiber, then Tiber is a pretty cat. Our cat Kiki was about eight months when we adopted two month old KaiKai. Kiki was a stray, about three months when we got her, and very timid. Took her a month to let us touch her. So understandably she went berserko when we got the new kitten.

I was so desperate I searched the internet and found out about Feliway. It worked the same day and now they're best friends. It covers their smell from each other so they can become friends.
