John Hoynes felt more than a little smug. He had reduced the ever-babbling White House Deputy Communication Director to speechlessness, a rare feat.
Standing straighter, the younger man seemed to regain composure, arms crossed, the ghost of a smile on his face.
As if daring the Vice-President to make the next move.
Still smiling smugly, John left his desk, and slowly crossed the room. Raising a hand to cup Sam's cheek, he felt Sam lean into the caress. John's thumb brushed Sam's lips, and the Vice-President leaned forward for a kiss, thinking that a easy victory still was a victory.
