Life, work, my dratted dissertation, and everything else* has been keeping me busy. Ha, thanks! I'm really on IJ mostly, DW sometimes, and LJ... well, almost never.

TOTAL CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR THESIS!!!! What a milestone! Go you. \o/ Plus, it sounds really good! There needs to be a lot more feminist critique of Twilight, and all other cultural media, especially that young girls engage with.

I've never heard of Coraline! Cool!!! Going to go look it up right now...

Re: betaing, and good grammar educations: yes, I didn't go to a Catholic school but I learned all mine in Latin class! Which was mainly me plus some students who'd been at Catholic school (in my neighborhood they only went through middle school, I guess, so they all had to transfer over to the public HS). Funny, the fandom gets blamed for so many things, but I haven't yet seen any media noting how fanfic writing and editing (and reading, and reviewing) strengthen people's grammar and spelling skills, or awareness of their importance.

Hey, did you post any of your thesis observations in your journal or a comm? I'd love to read!
