Thank you so much for this - I think you captured them both very well. James mimicking Jack's speech made me chuckle, as did Jack fretting inwardly about the spilled ink - so typical *g*

It did indeed both do the trick and the donation thing is now long forgotten, wiped away by such a treat :D We have all indeed done most excellent!
Have you considered posting these to some of the pirate-y comms? From personal experience, I can heartily recommend both sparrington and _norrington - they're both very friendly places, and I know that many other people who frequent there will get much pleasure out of reading it too. Or I could post a link, if you'd prefer?

I love the banter, especially when Norrington tries to imitate Jack and it causes temporary confusion. Love that the book Jack 'borrowed' was The Aeneid. Wonder what he would have "checked out" from the library this time had James not discovered him in his chair, and I really really like that Jack's been safekeeping the personal button that 'popped off' the Commodore's coat!
Good one, mate!

Mr. - Swallow, was it?
their voices are dead on. :) lovely thought, the commodore reading aloud. one of these days i'll get my hands on something davenport-narrated.
