i can't speak to the diagnostic stuff on House but the way the doctors misperform nursing care is -well, it'd be funny if it weren't so sad ( ... )

i know. i know, which is why i don't usually. i couldn't even give nurse jackie or hawthoRNe the time of day- *sigh* but i thought i'd just give mercy and three rivers a shot and see if there was any hope... but no...

you know, i'd be terrified to go to hospital if i thought this is how it worked.

it's just so fucking frustrating. i mean, i'd check their shit for FREE if they'd just listen to me- the simple simple simple things... handwashing. get the mask on straight. yes, people DO notice.

I was an ER fan for many years, and I remember reading somewhere that they always had a doctor as a consultant on the set to avoid stuff like what you are describing.

Sometimes ignorance is bliss :). My husband sometimes goes off on these rants about how they got this totally wrong, or how ridiculous something was when it comes to computers and IT stuff.

They did, and they got the medical stuff pretty much right. the nursing, not so much- there's a tendency to think 'hospital=doctors' which- yeah, for the diagnoses and the orders and surgery, sure- but not the hour to hour care, not the diagnostic TESTS, or the pharmacy stuff, or any of the bedside hands-on care- that's all Not-Doctor people of various ranks and various levels of education, and that pretty much gets missed out. But, yeah, ER did better than most. And, of course, it's really a soap opera/ensemble cast show, that happens to be set in a medical world- it's just they did the medical world awfully well.

OMG i BET! he must have to grit his teeth and just put on the *ignore* blinkers a LOT. poor man! hell, even i can tell sometimes things are just.not.like.that!
