This is absolutely charming, just the sort of characterizations of both Orlando and Elijah I so enjoy reading. I really liked how you captured their thought processes in the dialogue-it's not an easy thing to do!-and I loved how you made it clear that this is a progressive friendship/relationship, built on an deeply endearing trust. Really lovely. And this:

"Small victories count," Orlando said. "Claim them all."

is just so excellent and warm. Lovely lovely. Thank you!
