every character just sparkles with life. and if this story was nothing more than the image of billy, a grown man, giggling into his pint, i'd love this. but then it's so much more. the detail, the flavor of it all - - just wonderful. this one goes to memories. thank you!

Ahh, but he's not very grown is he? :) I think that's what I love about them all - their irrepressible chldish spirit, brought out in all the best ways. And writing it came very easily, very naturally, it was a good voice I found.

I miss that we don't see the Billy and Dom show any more - if only there was reason to have them all in the Hobbit!

Thank you very much! I'm so happy you liked - it was a fun ride writing it too, it just poured right out, which is always a good feeling :)

Oh, wow. Oh, wow. This is - this is just - okay, so I am a nerd about the British comedy scene, like, I still haven't got over the Perrier not being the Perrier any more (it's just wrong) and it's one of my life's ambitions to go to Edinburgh and Montreal, and at one point I could reel off Victoria Wood's entire 1997 set (and still do bits of it when they float through my brain) and THIS THIS THIS omg this fic is so delightful and amazing. I love that Billy does songs, and that they get edgier and have satire (♥satire♥) and Dom being the belle of the Manchester scene and the good nights and the bad nights and omg yes, if Billy and Dom were comedy partners it'd be genius. And Elijah being young and awesome and VIGGO DOING SURREAL COMEDY OMG and just basically, this fic is amazing and I want to live in it omg.

Hee. I'm very glad it pushed your buttons, as it were! And I'm glad I didn't get too much wrong either, as it's only my impression of stand-up as a genre. I can't believe Billy and Dom as comedy partners in this way hasn't been written before, but I don't think I've come across a fic that covers it, and I was asked for a fresh AU, and hoped this fitted. I've been writing Mitchell and Webb, and Charlie Brooker etc. this year, so the tropes were in my mind, and it almost wrote itself once I started :) I'm very happy you liked it so much!

It is quite amazing how this AU -- the comedy club circuit -- might never have been done in this fandom. Because it is absolutely perfect to imagine these actors inhabiting this world in just this way. Billy as nucleus was the perfect choice, and using the various encounters -- all sympathetically and cleverly told -- to reveal the range and complexity within his character was deftly achieved. So enjoyable, thank you!

I was just shining a spotlight, really, it all seemed really natual once I started writing. And I'm with you, it's a genre that should have been written, but I couldn't think of a fic, so I just went with it! Billy as the centre character was my recipient's choice, but I love writing Billy, so it wasn't a hardship. Dear Billy! Thank you.
