I really liked how you wrote Arthur and Francis's relationship in this :)

Wow, this was really moving. I like your treatment of Algeria and India, and how proud and stubborn and eventually hurt France and England feel in regards to their former colonies. Thanks for sharing, I learned something I didn't know today.

Thank you, I am so glad you liked it. It felt a little weird to write about colonialism (or decolonization) from the point of few of the colonizing countries. Not what I'm used to but I ended up really liking it, so I'm glad you enjoyed it too.

I also learned some stuff I didn't know while writing it.

Wow. I'd been meaning to write a fic about Algerian decolonization for ages, 'cause no one had yet and it's a very
sensitive part of France's history... but you just did it for me. I can't tell you how much I love you for this <3 It's very sensitively written, no excuses are made for France's barbaric retributions on Algerian nationalists, yet he isn't painted as a complete monster. Plus, you made Algeria a woman, which is my own headcanon (although in my headcanon her name is Fadhma, after the famous resistant that fought against French colonization of Algeria in its early years >.<)
Plus.... FrUK, man ^^

Thank you! I'm glad you think I handled this well I was worried about it actually because I do know what the Algerian War is a sensitive part of French history.

I wanted to write Francis fairly not excusing what happened but definitely showing how he justified it to himself.

and I'm glad you liked Algeria I totally thought she was supposed to be a woman I went back and forth on the name.

thank you so much for reading and commenting.

I really like how you handled de-colonization, especially in this instance. As far as I know, it really hasn't been touched much in fanfiction, especially in this detail, but it must have had a big impact on them as a fading empire and as a nation bearing guilt for their colonies/"children".

I also really liked how you handled France and England's relationship. It was very touching.

Great job with what you did here and thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much I'm glad you liked it. Yep I've noticed there isn't a lot on decolonization or colonization at all actually but it's a huge part of France and English history.
I don't know I loved the way I wrote there relationship here on the other hand it's a little less snarky and a little more actually caring then they are often portrayed.
Thank you for reading.

I think you approached this really well. You've written the 'they thought they were doing the right thing' and also showed the relationships between the empires and the former colonies well. I also like fruk in this - the history behind them just simmers beneath what's actually in the fic, and it's lovely.
