Oh, this is such a lovely mixture of sadness and happiness at the end. I am so glad that Spock made a move! Interesting that he hadn't dared that in the first half of his life, yet in a situation when he wasn't maybe in full possession of his faculties, he did it. I am so glad! ♥

Once again an awesome, sweet story from you. It always kind of pissed e off that Spock never so much as acknowledged what Bones did for him during the katra story, let alone apologized for what he put him through. There was always just Jim. It made me hurt for Bones, because in his place I would have felt pretty miserable, unappreciated, and left out.
I love that you included that here. I also love that Spock assumed there must have been more between them, since he chose McCoy for his katra, which is no small thing.

And Spock's continued insecutity concerning whether they'd had that talk before was cute. As was McCoy's confusion concerning his random proposal.

My icon has that moment from III, that absolutely beautiful heartbroken moment--he doesn't even get a look from the Vulcan. McCoy's devistated.
That always makes me cry.

That's some lovely acting from DeForest, some of the best of his career. I wonder did he stay up all night to purposely look haggard like that, or was he acting that?

AWWW this was sweet! I love how you actually dealt with that scene in 'Search for Spock' where he turns and only acknowledges Jim. I mean what about McCoy, who carried your katra?

Liked the part where Spock was unsure if they'd had the conversation before. Very endearing.
