I think I've been dreaming of this for 20+ years now o-O! Coming next month, you can buy a real LIVE TALKING K.I.T.T. GPS system for you car! The company even hired William Daniels, K.I.T.T.'s original voice from the 80s TV series, to TALK and give you directions! I wonder if it also has the whooshing sounds K.I.T.T.'s roving eye makes when it ( Read more... )

I've been wondering for a long time when they would get around to doing famous voices for GPS systems. KITT is a great gateway drug for this. I'm wondering if at some point you'll be able to change as easy as your ringtone and people create fan-made GPS voices. XD

Hi Katy,

This GPS is already the gateway drug for the new NBC series which will be released a month afterward in September XD! I still like Daniels' voice over Val Kilmer's ;b! Daniels gave K.I.T.T. a nice sarcastic tone, while Kilmer is more monotone.

Methinks if this GPS does well, the Trekkies would want one with Majel Barrett's voice and classic Star Trek display X)!

They really should get a Star Trek one out as soon as possible, I'm sure that will sell well and I doubt Majel Barrett would be that hard to convince to do it. I wonder if they'll include Easter eggs, like the ability to enter meaningless Trek commands... of course, that could be deemed too dangerous for an in car system. ^^;

I picked up the two Death Note movies at WWChicago. They were actually well done, though they felt like a bunch of half hour episodes strung together to make movies. It might be because I am used to the segments being broken up. The CG is on the level with a Sci-fi made for tv movie and looks a little off since the characters have their original designes. It is really glaring with Ren since it has that solid anime hair look to it. Ryuk also has a habit of laughing quietly which makes it look like he is going through some bizarre spasm. The ending does have that great L doing his best "fuck you Light" scene.

You do know that the official release for the first Death Note movie will be in September, right ^^;?

Yes I do. They weren't expensive at the convention at all so I had no problems with it. They are just the HK release so there is no dub over.

The whole KITT GPS thing sounds good, but . . . one small nit: The original actor who did his voice. Didn't he die some time ago? How are they going to fabricate his voice to do more modern directional speak or such? I mean, I can see them doing sampling from the original show's dialog track, but . . .

Personally, I thought Kilmer didn't do that bad with the recent KR TV Pilot. Granted, KITT Didn't have the classic "snark" that the old series did, still for what it was worth, he did good.

Far as anime goes, I really want to find "Wolf's Rain"... I heard that was a good series.

Hi Stephen,

William Daniels, K.I.T.T.'s original voice, is still alive and well actually ^^;. Daniels not only did St. Elsewhere, but he went on for many more years in Boy Meets World. He's also popped up, voice wise, as K.I.T.T. recently again on an episode of The Simpsons, so he's not dead by all means.

I watched Wolf's Rain on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim a few years back. I loved the music, animation, and voice acting even if the plot got a bit confusing at times.

Hi Libby,

If you're referring to Stephen's/ssobotkajr's icon, it's from his book series, Sin-City Walker. The original piece is here on deviantArt by someone named ~Hydrant.
