I noticed eBay sent me their brand spanky NEW customer service 1-800 number via my eBay message box. I decided to give them a call about my 'lovely' recent experience with one of their sellers. The customer support person was very amicable and understanding of my situation, but, alas, he didn't have the power to remove the negative feedback. ( Read more... )

I think PayPal has been better since eBay bought them out...I have yet to have a problem, but I know I've heard so much bad rap about them in the past (not just from your experience, either...which is why it took me awhile to finally jump on their bandwagon, really). But good to see they're listening, I guess they know that's what will keep the site running.

If you had responded to a classified ad in the newspaper and subsequently had a bad experience with the seller, would you have expected the newspaper to offer you a refund?

The biggest misconception about Ebay is that it's anything other than an advertising venue where anyone, no matter how ethical or trustworthy they may be, can place an advertisement for the sale of goods or services.

Moreover, IF an advertising venue, such as a newspaper, continues allowing a KNOWN untrustworthy seller use their services, won't the advertising venue be responsible as well for any more victims of that seller =/?
