Our next Joss'd is about the pilot episodes of Joss Whedon's works... Buffy, Firefly, Angel, Dr. Horrible, Dollhouse. Which pilot do you think worked best and why?

I'd go with Buffy only because every expectation I had was turned upside down and by the end, I was in love. Still am.

Worst, Dollhouse only because there was just about no humor and it was hard to like any of the characters.

Didn't watch Firefly or Dollhouse, but I'd have to say the best pilot was Angel. It had a clear understanding of what type of show it wanted to be right off the bat, and a strong first season overall.

I don't really consider Angel a "real" pilot because it was a spin-off and so had a lot of things already established. Buffy was definitely the best. It did everything Joss has said he wanted from the show, made the small blond the hero and established real human relationships we could all identify with.

Firefly was the worst for me. This is just a personal impression, but it did not grab me at all. Going back and rewatching has helped me develop an appreciation, but the first time around was difficult. Fortunately I have friends who insisted that I keep watching.
