In defense of Joss (like he needs it)

I'm highly... disturbed.... by people who seem to think Joss doesn't know his own canon.

Did these people not see Serenity? Joss knows his canon. He choses to change it to fit the story he wants to tell. His changes usually are logical or meaningless to the over all story  kind of like the whole "vampires have no breath but Spike can smoke" thing.

Retcons what Retcons?

IMO, I do not consider the Spike "you're my sire", or pig's blood/human blood for souled vamps, or potentials existing, or Dawn etc. as Retcons. Retcon is not a fexible definition to fit what you do not like, and does not suit your taste, with an ultimate and indefinsible prejuidicial term. (For example, using the flexible, nebulous and ill defined definitions and standards used by most, I'd like to offer Tara's death as retcon.) The Buffyverse is remarkably free of Retcons. Sorry for ranting!

Dawn herself is not.. but inserting Dawn into past events where she wasn't there - is.

Retcon is the adding of new information to "historical" material, or deliberately changing previously established facts in a work of serial fiction.

Simon busting River out.. is retcon. Joss purposefully changed it and has said so. Warren not dying may indeed be retcon.
