The frustration caused by a one-year delay has led him to an inability to hide his disappointment and to a virtual suicide hasn't it. He was seemingly unprepared to invest another year of cooing into the task of luring his victim into some bloody trap.
Perhaps he is in kidney transplanting, or ransom extorting, or brothel staffing biz (a crude reality of the human body, intestines included, which complements and counterweights the virtuality of the Second Life quite naturally, makes the latter a nice place for all sorts of Egyptian body snatchers).
I like the part about the dogs in need of peeing, it sounds so refreshing! A call of nature as the deux ex machina breaking the unnatural and ungodly chain of pains and delusions. And the despicable git didn't deserve a better reason for saving his ass from the confrontation if you think about it.
