Trying to fit a square into a circle of your life
He had disappeared. She awoke and he was gone. This wasn't how she pictured it. Not the movie style - wake up in bed and find your lover smiling down at you - ending she had imagined. He had been warm, caring, gentle. Where was he now? She could feel his touch warm on her skin; his kisses - greedy on her mouth; his breath against her ear. There was a low shiver in her soul as she stretched and uncurled her legs - she could feel him there. And yet, he was gone. She sits up and looks around. Maybe he's gone for a moment, she tells herself, but inside she knows something is wrong.

She stands, running fingers through hair. She walks to the door and walks up the stairs. she gazes into the rain. Sunnydale is not known for having a lot of rain, but now it pours from the sky in some kind of mocking tribute to her pain. Where is he? She lays back in the bed, waiting. Maybe he heard something? No, he would have woken her up for them to investigate together. She didn't hear him moving, so he couldn't still be in the small apartment he had created down here. She closes her eyes, a small flicker of hope telling her if she just rests a bit longer, he'll return and all will be right again.
She knows it's false hope, but she just wants to be peaceful a little while longer.
