Here we go with the second tutorial requested by reebeecaa! With this one I wrote all the tutorials you guys asked me - I still have the favorite fonts guide asked by adriftingsea but idk I'm not sure I'll be able to do it? I mean, I always end up browsing through all the fonts I have and trying everything because I don't know what I'm doing when adding text to my icons, so I wouldn't really know what to write in a guide? But I'm still thinking, maybe I could at least give it a try, you know? Be it just to show a few of the ones I use the most :)
Anyway, let's go back to reebeecaa's tutorial! Enjoy! :3

01) The very first thing I did while making this icon was to cut out the subject and put her on a solid background. I made this icon for marcasite's rainbow television battle last August, and this was my entry for the yellow icon, so I added a yellow background. I wasn't really accurate while cutting her out, uh?

Next I did what I always do: I duplicated the layer with my subject and set it on screen 100% (twice this time) to lighten the cap.

02) Since it wasn't yellow enough, I added a gradient fill (from #7d5024 to #fff15f with a 60° angle) and set it on soft light 100%.

03) I didn't like the lights and shadows of my cap, so I altered them with black and white brushes - on a new transparent layer I added white strokes where I wanted more light and black strokes where I wanted more shadows, blurred a bit and set the layer on soft light 100%.

04) Next came the same texture I ALWAYS use - this one by lumsx. I guess this is one of my favorite textures because it gives a nice, warm light and idk I love it. I set it on soft light 100%. Most of my layers are set on soft light now that I think of it... °-° oh.

05) I added another texture (I don't know who made this one, though :( If you do, please let me know?) and used a mask to hide it from my subject, then set this one, too, on soft light 100%.

06) I took a 1px brush and on a new layer I painted some small dots and lines over her with white and black (like this) so as to add light points - I don't know how to call them? I wanted to give the impression that there was a light shining on her left and her skin and dress were touched by this light. I set the layer on soft light 100% once again.

07) Now I honestly don't remember why I did this, but I added a fill layer with a dark brown (#38302b) and set it on screen 100%, then I added a gradient map (from #38302b to #cebca5) set on soft light 100%.

08) I needed more yellow, so I took a brush and added some bright yellow (#f4d132) strokes on the background, and set the layer on soft light 100%. I know, I know, it's always soft light 100%.

09) VIBRANCE! I added a new vibrance layer (vibrance +50, saturation +10) but since it seemed to me that my subject was a bit too much like the background - guess it's because of the brown layer? - on a new transparent layer I added more shadows and lights; I took black and white brushes and painted over her, and set the layer on soft light 100%.

10) At last I duplicated the base (my subject cut out I mean) and moved it on top of everything, blurred it (guassian blur with a radius around 3) and set it on soft light 100%.

Lastly I sharpened (I used high pass) and saved.

Please feel free to keep asking me anything you want! My thread is always open (?) and I swear I don't bite ♥
