I have a friend who THINKS they're German, so I guess if they ever happened to read this, they might be thrilled as well. Glad you enjoyed the hot hands/cane love, and thanks for the review.

It's a long, pretentious story. But thanks for the review. I definitely got the bird comparison from the books, nose and features and perching rather than sitting in chairs.

I keep checking your LJ to see if I've missed a new part- that's how much I am loving this! You've got such an eye for detail, and the way your write Watson is just fascinating! I love this back and forth between them and can not wait for the next chapter.

Your icon, first of all, is adorable. Nice that you're picking up on the details, and that you like the way I write Watson. I try to get into his strange head, but he's a strange one, that doctor man! Strange.

Well, I've read quite a bit of this already so you know how much I adore it, but seriously, the scene with the sword and Holmes being all "ha ha, I will threaten you with your cane" and Watson freaking out is just wonderful. And the handporn. So much love for the handporn (and for Watson's embarrassment at sort of realising it is handporn). And awww, Watson taking care of Holmes, and the whole bit with how his leg will never work properly again... *flails* So much love!

I don't know if Holmes is threatening him exactly... he's just on so much drugs probably that I have no idea WHAT he's doing. And yeah, Watson knows it's handporn, he's so meta and embarrassed. Thanks for all the love. It means a lot to me. <3

Wow, wouldn't that be ironic. Come back from Afghanistan to "safe" London and gets stabbed by someone who upholds justice. Great.

I love the meandering pace of Watson's narration and Holmes' dialogue. He sounds like a mad child prodigy or something. Marvelous. Loved this from the beginning. Will be looking for more.

Yeah, nothing is safe for Watson. And bee-tee-dubs, Victorian London really was not safe for ANYONE!! So no, while there isn't actually an actual war raging in the streets of London, it really wasn't much safer than Afghanistan.

Love the man-child prodigy idea, though. That's a neat way to look at it.

My oh my! So I've just finished reading what you've written for the series thus far! I must say I'm really enjoying it :DDD I love Watson's POV but I do hope they get along better in future chapters! I love me some angst and bickering but some of this was so sad ): (Holmes pulling Watson's sword on him WTF? I want to know what Holmes was thinking!) I don't want them to hate each other!! But your writing style is wonderful and you truly bring the characters to life :) Hopefully there will be some romance/smut in the future? Yes/yes!?
I absolute love these lines too:
Was there nothing Holmes could not do with his hands? I think Watson wants to find out ;)
It was bad enough that he had let Holmes in, or rather that he had not been able to keep Holmes out. So very true!
And I lol'd aloud at this one: Watson allowed himself to notice that, with both of their hands splayed against each other, his proved to be the larger. Whether this amused or pleased him never came to be known, for he was overcome with embarrassment at what he had been ( ... )

I love that you're so specific with this! Thank you so much for a lovely review.

I'm sort of veering away from A Study in Scarlet, though, I got about halfway through this chapter and was like "Ok, i need ALL THAT OTHER STUFF to happen first? I... think not." I give Watson full artistic license to write whatever he wants in the books, just as long as I can write whatever I want in this. heh.
