My grandfather, who was a fisherman (though not of the Breton variety), had a cap exactly like that! Actually, not exactly like that, because after all those years out on the fishing boats it was a lot dirtier and more worn looking, but I'm sure it started off looking exactly like that.

And I'd completely forgotten about it until I saw your photo.
