The Day Dallas Died

ATTENTION FATE: When I said I can't wait to see Shaq cry, I meant tears of sorrow, NOT JOY!!!! I just don't know what to say. The Mavs lost, and they lost like chumps, not champs. I'm not sure whether to give credit to the Heat or take it away from Dallas. Probably both. I haven't seen the Mavericks play so badly in a long time. Of course, all ( Read more... )

Your reaction reminds me of mine, one year when the Bengals were doing quite well, and I was watching all the televised games. Then the Browns beat them fair and square. I was disappointed, but the team that deserved to win did in fact win that time around.

I don't know about you, but for me, in-state rivalries are the worst. I'd rather have lost the Finals to Miami than a second-round playoff series to San Antonio. When Dallas beat the Spurs in San Antonio, in overtime, in game 7, I decided right then and there that the Mavs had already won the Championship. The next series with Phoenix didn't matter much, and neither did the Finals. They had finally beat that sorry, good-for-nothing, cry-baby squad of niggers ruled by Tim Duncan, and for me, that was enough to be satisfied. But I also can't stand the Houston Rockets, or Texans, The Texas Tech Red Raiders, A&M Aggies, TCU Horned Frogs, etc. I'm all Cowboys, Mavs, and Stars. As for baseball, well, I don't even like the Rangers. Quite frankly, I don't like the sport or anyone who plays it, or watches it, or even thinks about it. I don't like myself because I know how to spell it.

LOL, yeah baseball can be dull at times. Have you heard Carlin's comparison of baseball and football? Quite funny ( ... )

I PLAYED baseball for probably four years, and never did like it much. I also played basketball, soccer, and football. From the time I can remember until I was about sixteen or so, I was involved in organized sports. I cannot begin to put a price on the skills and values I learned from those experiences, and I'm still a sports guru, almost to the point of calling myself a "meathead". I think if I had grown up in the north, I'd be a baseball fan. That's like the north's favorite passtime. Down here, though, it just isn't an all-American, traditional family sport. Other than Pete Rose being in Texas for a few years, nothing really exciting has happened for our teams, especially the Rangers. Well, we got Nolan Ryan and he did beat the shit out that batter he beaned; Robin Ventura, I believe his name was. That was pretty cool, but other than that there's just nothing to be proud of. And with Terrell Owens coming to the Cowboys, there's a good chance I'll write them off this year, too.
