Betsey Jo Revisited

Jul 17, 2008 20:42

Some of you might recall my little dress rant a couple weeks back, about how I implusively purchased a little Betsey Johnson number on ebay. Well it arrived about a week ago, and let's just say I have a little dilemma. You see, this is what I thought I was getting when I saw the dress on ebay...

First of all, I thought the dress in the picture was PURPLE. Anyway... i think the dress as a whole loses a certain crucial something without the cutesy pink. Maybe it's the bathroom lighting but the skirt itself isn't too exciting... and salmon isn't a very exciting colour either so...

But then again I'm relying on a picture (and we know how unreliable THAT can be) so let me see the dress live?

I don't really understand what you mean by "exciting"--that's not exactly the adjective I was looking for when I decided to purchase this dress. If that's your way of saying the colour is hideous, then I'll take it. ;p I just need an honest opinion, because i've asked my mum, grandma and bonnie and they all seem to think it's ok? I'm still not convinced though.

i don't know how you saw PURPLE from the ebay picture though... it's clearly navy! maybe there's something with your monitor settings...

I still think it's cute, in a bold way. If it really bothers you, it seems the sash is removable right? In that case, you could buy your ideal pink fabric to make another sash? Not that you'd want to spend more money but a suggestion nonetheless~

actually the sash is completely sewn into the dress and cannot be removed--in fact, the dress zips up on the side, and the sash splits in half there, ruched into the seam of the dress... so i actually can't remove it. i can add to it, but i think it's already over the top as it is...?

i'm hoping that the salmon will grow on me--i still love the design of the dress, it's just the colour that throws me off. imo it's not hideous, but that's not exactly the colour I would have chosen to go with navy...

So I guess it'll be kinda eye-brow raising wherever i decide to wear it to. but my friend tells me that as long as i wear it with confidence, i should be able to pull it off--i sure hope she's right.

I think it's cute and with the right accessories, it'll be better.

oh pishtosh, salmon is fine. baby pink would be more ideal, because it's always ideal, especially with navy. but don't let the salmon stop you from wearing this.
i'm not very good with accessories. i hate earrings, and just have a collection of solely pendant necklaces. i would just wear some skyhigh navy heels. maybe that -is- all you need though? because it's eyecatching already.

wow, you ARE seriously going through all of my old entries! D:

i ended up wearing this to em's wedding... with a simple string of black pearls and my gunmetal d'orsays... because i love d'orsays. (as you would know) ;D

but i do like the sound of navy heels... i shall put that on my shoe wishlist!
