The week following their Hawaii trip Skylar decided to return to work, realizing that she couldn't completely avoid her issues forever or become a hermit from everyday society. The gossip column, all things considered, had been temporarily taken over by her editor until Skylar wanted it back. That was going to be a discussion for a completely ( Read more... )

Harry was tucked into Skylar's bed but he wasn't sleeping. He had parchment propped up on his knees, a quill clamped between his teeth. He was going through a few cases he'd nicked from Ron about Sebastian Linney. The takeover of the Department was going to happen before Harry was deemed fit to return to the force and he wanted to learn a bit more about his brand new boss. They'd hardly worked together before and Harry didn't want to go in blind.

Especially with the rough reputation that preceded him.

When he heard Skylar call out his name, he took a final minute to scribble some notes before pulling himself from the covers. Dressed in only a pair of boxers and a plain white tee shirt, he shuffled from her bedroom and into the living room- just in time to see Skylar wander into the kitchen with a small owl.

"Hey-"

Both Skylar and Bona turned towards Harry at the same time, a smile pulling at her lips. There was something so incredibly comforting knowing that he was there waiting for her at home and it was clear he had become more than comfortable, adorable bedhead and all. They hadn't spent a night apart since her attack.

"Hey. Meet Bona," she said, point towards the little barn owl on her shoulder who, in turn, bobbed his head up and down in way of greeting. He was literally the only good thing that ever came out of owls from her mother.

"I picked up dinner too-"

Maybe he wouldn't ask where Bona came from exactly.

He was beginning to grow far too comfortable in her flat, he was nearly capable of walking around without his glasses on. He offered her a wonky grin as he took sight of the take out bag, Harry's stomach grumbling as the smell wafted closer toward him.

"Is that what I think it is-" but he paused before finishing his statement, the sight of the owl properly catching his attention now. "Hey- who's owl is that?"

She didn't mind how comfortable he had become in her flat, actually she preferred it considering it meant much more Harry and much less clothing. And if Reid could would just get over whatever stubborn resentment he was still holding onto he'd learn to appreciate those abs just as much as Skylar had.

"Yes it it. I had a sudden craving for grilled pineapple," she grinned, heading over to one of the cupboards. There was a little stash of owl treats reserved for the rare occasion Bona popped in and he knew it too, his little neck already outstretched as Skylar pulled them down.

"This little guy is the Fawcett Family owl, Bonaparte."

As much as she dreaded any news from her mother, it was impossible not to smile at the way the little owl munched on his treat.
