Is the drive for this just to get rid of stuff or something deeper? Sometimes people with a problem they are stuck on will solve other problems out of frustration, for distraction, or for other reasons. You don't have an excessive amount of stuff, nor are you even remotely close to having a pathological amount of stuff.

When we more or less have space for stuff, it's often easier to keep it than decide to do something with it or make time to dispose of it. You are usually (always?) time crunched, so making time to do this shows motivation.

I can see being raised not to get rid of stuff unless it's broken. Money was spent on that stuff. That can make it hard to get rid of it. So many people can't let go of what they have spent money on there is a name for it. See the "sunk cost fallacy".
