The T-1000 had been gradually attempting to come to an understanding with the concept of sleep. He still didn't like it, didn't like releasing control of this body, or losing connection with the world. Sometimes, though, it was okay.

This wasn't one of those times.

He woke up abruptly, slick with sweat, pulse racing in his ears, still hearing an echo of a metal scream. His gaze darted around the room, trying to locate a concrete threat he could relocate focus to.

He only found Reese.

Drawing a slow breath through his nose, he tried to relax, with little success. He'd lost link to the dream, but he knew it hadn't been pleasant, and he still felt it, lingering in his system, refusing to let go. He knew dreams weren't a tangible portion of reality, but they were a part of his perception now, which made them, on a certain level, real.

He remained motionless and stared into the ceiling, refusing to close his eyes again.

It wasn't morning yet, but he was certain he didn't want to sleep anymore.

"Reese," he whispered, not wanting to startle her. Upon receiving no response, he turned to his side, grabbing her shoulder and giving it a slight shake. "Hey, Reese."
