Day 9: Silence Wasted

Dec 08, 2006 08:13

I enjoy mornings. I'm a night person and a morning person. I used to think that was because I had something against the sun, but that's not true. These days, I still love the morning and I still enjoy my nights...but I miss the sun too ( Read more... )

Carputer eh? In the hacker realm, we invariably have them in our cars, just not mounted in. For instance, with my new car that I (hopefull) will be bidding for tomorrow, I'll have a seperate power point installed just to power the laptop. On the laptop, I will have a connection for a high-gain wifi antennea, whcih can be used in the geek sport of War driving where you drive around looking for wifi hot spots. I'll also hook in a GPS puck and some navigation software that I had displayed to me last weekend whcih showed where you were, how fast you were driving and spoke the directions to you as you came to each turn. Wooohoo! COmputers and cars equal geekfun!

Ironically...he has that too.

He has all of the above (but prefers not to do the WiFi pirating--however I do like to do that in various world cities).

He also has the PDA/Smartphone that he mounts for GPS etc...

BUT...it wasn't enough. He's going to be hacking the BMW internal software as well to hook into the carputer. They have special cases for such which are shaped somewhat like a large heatsink--we're talking full sized ATX desktop machine with TV-cards etc.

I find it very interesting indeed.

I have been out of the computer building business for several years and there have been some changes. I'm finding that I have forgotten simple things and just don't care. Still...I should do more of it. Too bad I can't build something that will fit in my suitcase if I ever decide to leave.

My computer seems to be my mistress.

When it comes down to it, all that really matters is the hard drive. You can replace the heart, but it's the soul that is important
