FUCK. Job hunting makes me depressed. Depression makes me lose motivation and sanity. Loss of motivation and sanity makes me not want to do job hunting. But if I don't job hunt, I won't get a job and I'll just continue to be depressed, unmotivated, and insane. And poor ( Read more... )

If my boss at the pet shop offers me a temporary full-time position, I will likely quit the meat market to take him up on it. Working at the pet store is a lot less stressful...the meat market isn't bad, but it's a high-energy job, I have a shitty coworker who gravitates toward me unconsciously because I'm the only person he can relate to, and it doesn't pay enough for what's required of me ( ... )

I have been there - for too long - and became a free-loading bum for too long. I had my reasoning at the time.

This is a dangerous psychological trap. I've been there for too long. It's Hell, and it only just gets worse.

You have to post, apply, and follow up like it's a game, and then not give a crap about how those possible leads turn out. Try to keep a running total of 2-3 different active job-related (sometimes working with recruiters to obtain interviews) conversations a week. (This will help your sanity.)

Seriously - don't give a crap if your bid for a job succeeds or fails. Coming across as wanting, needy, or desperate will not leave prospective recruiters feeling good about you. You must stay upbeat and positive ( ... )

Right now the problem is that I haven't even had a single interview. Period. My complete and utter lack of ambition doesn't help at all.

I know that's hard. My girlfriend is going through the exact same thing after several applications, and it's extremely depressing. Just follow up on those things that you can, not care about the things that you haven't heard from, and keep trying.

I'm also currently unemployed.

Right now what's keeping me going is the fact that if I don't do anything, I'm definitely not going to get a job. I figure if I keep trying, eventually someone will decide to offer me something.
