OF OPPAS, UNNIS AND DONGSAENGS;; PG-13
Disclaimer - I don't hate Krystal I swear. She just makes for a good antagonist. LOL
“Oh, Krystal, you’re here?” Krystal looked up at the intruder, and felt her heart skip a beat when she saw who it was, although she would never admit that was the reason why.
“Of course I’m here. I’m rehearsing. What are you doing here?” She tried giving a cold reply. Her sister had once told her that acting like you didn’t care was the best way to drive boys crazy. It had worked so far for Jessica.
“Oh, me? I was rehearsing too. I finished and I was just wondering who else was here.” He mentioned in a nonchalant way.
Krystal shrugged, feigning indifference, when in actuality she had been observing the way his hair was perfectly coiffed into a spiked mess, the way his eyes looked more puppy like than ever, the way his sparse t-shirt hugged his arms ever so tightly, and that mischievous smile on his face that never seemed to leave.
“Oh, please Jonghyun oppa. If you were rehearsing, then why aren’t you sweaty? Just admit you came to see me.” Krystal rolled her eyes as she talked, hoping the valley girl response would illicit something back from him.
“Only losers sweat.” He chided back, cupping her chin softly into his hand for a second before walking past her into the room.
“Hear that, unni? Oppa says you are a loser because you sweat. And you sweat like a dog.” Krystal laughed at her own wittiness as she closed the door shut, trying not to let her fingers trace her own chin, moments from where he had touched her.
She turned back around, waiting for a response from her sister, or a subtle dig from Jonghyun himself, only to see Jonghyun making his way towards Jessica, bending to sit in front of her on the floor, cross-legged with an idiotic expression.
Krystal also couldn’t help but notice that her sister had let her messy bun come undone, and now her dirty, straw colored hair had fallen into an array of curls covering her face and shoulders. All of that hair is fake extensions, Krystal bemused.
Jessica had sat up, arms behind, legs out now in a stretched out yet sultry position and she was staring right at Jonghyun’s enthused smile.
“What?” Sica said, the coldness dripping in that one syllable. Krystal wasn’t sure who her sister was talking to but the iciness in her voice was cold yet subtle. Krystal wanted to answer her sister immediately, and she didn’t understand how her sister could have that much power with one word.
Apparently, Jonghyun couldn’t understand how to not respond either because not even a second had passed by before he replied back.
“Yah, bapo, I can’t even see your sweat because your hair is covering your face.” He laughed. Jessica made some loud, whiny screech at his words but quickly shut up the moment he reached over and gently brushed Jessica’s wispy strands out of her face and behind her bony shoulders. “Much better.”
“Oh, really?”
“Yeah, I can see how you much you’ve sweated like a dog now.” Jonghyun looked up at Krystal, sending her a gratuitous wink for the dog banter. A big punch to the shoulder was Jonghyun’s punishment for that, courtesy of Jessica. Krystal rolled her eyes at her sister’s violent response and walked towards them, sitting down in such a position that the two of them would have to touch her knees to even be able to touch each other again.
“You guys are so immature. Oppa, you’re not even supposed to be here. It’s like 3 am. What exactly are you doing here so late without your posse?”
“Oh, like singing Tik-Tok is mature. I told you I was rehearsing.”
“Oppa, you aren’t all worn out looking like you usually are after you rehearse. So stop lying. And how the heck did you know we were singing Tik-Tok? Ugh, you are such a stalker. Were you spying on us the whole time?”
Krystal pretended to be disgusted while she let the thought of what she said sink in. What If he had been spying on them outside the room? Listening to them fight, imagining them all out of breath and sweating everywhere. Would he imagine them like that? Would he imagine her like that? Of course he would, Krystal knew she dripped in sweat sexily. She had observed herself one too many times after rehearsing on a daily basis.
“Uh, I just knew. I wasn’t dance rehearsing, I was composing songs in the piano room.”
“Oh, really oppa? What kinds of songs?” Krystal replied fast, not giving her sister a chance to jump into the conversation. Jessica probably didn’t care, Krystal noted. She was just sitting there staring into the mirror past Jonghyun, twirling her long fake extensions around with her frail little fingers.
“Just songs…trying to write one about a girl with a very pretty voice singing to me…”
Jonghyun’s voice trailed off as he self-consciously played with the non-existent collar of his shirt. Krystal found the idea of him penning a song about a singer very appealing. Her voice was nice, she had been told. Her sister praised her all the time. Maybe SM would let her have collaboration with him one day. Maybe his composed song could be their song.
“Wow, oppa, your fangirls are going to love that. Kay, now bye bye oppa! We have to practice.”
“Do you have call him oppa every time you talk?” Krystal was surprised by her sister’s sudden comment, but even more so at how bored her sister sounded saying it, instead of expected jealousy.
“Are you girls seriously going to practice anymore? It’s so late, just forget it.”
“Easy for you to say, all you have to do is belt out a few notes and you get a few thousand cheers. Try being a girl and having to dress in revealing clothes and dance provocatively to get the same results, OPPA.”
“Hey, singing requires a little more drive than that. Are you saying I can’t dance? And don’t act like you don’t wear clothes like that when you are off stage, Krystal. I’ve seen you during practice, you know.”
Krystal could hear the quick rise in his voice. She loved getting him all hot and bothered like that, it was so much fun to test his limits.
“Oh, oppa are you admitting that you check me out during practice?” Krystal sashayed around a little while sitting, preemptively planning to give a big wink back to Jonghyun as a present, after he responded back.
“I’m too tired to practice anymore.” Jessica interrupted, apparently not caring about whatsoever the other two had been discussing as she fell back down, her head harshly landing on the floor as her loose locks cascaded underneath her. Krystal felt her neck yearn in envy as her older sister casually lifted her shirt up to reveal her taut stomach, glistening from their practice before, as she placed her hands on top of herself, playfully patting it like a drumset. She had managed to look quite sexy, and in quite the effortless way.
Krystal suspected Jonghyun had noticed too, because he hadn’t bothered to respond to Krystal’s last statement and Krystal couldn’t help but think that little gulp in his Adam’s apple wasn’t a figment of her imagination. Or that he was staring at her sister’s figure right in front of her. Nope, because that wasn’t happening and it surely wasn’t real.
“Me too. I need something to drink or eat. Oppa, can you go buy us something?” Krystal tried to sound as inhumanely sweet as possible to bribe him into fulfilling her request and to stop drooling over Jessica’s body as soon as possible.
“Hmm? You want me to buy you something? What’s even open this late?” He finally came into eye contact with Krystal once again, this time his big puppy eyes carrying a look of utter confusion.
“I don’t know oppa, why don’t you go and check?”
“Oppa.” Jessica scoffed from the ground. Krystal laughed to herself. She knew her sister was getting irritated by the word, even if she wouldn’t admit it. It really does pay to be young, she praised.
“Krystal, I know I don’t look tired, but I really am. Sorry.”
“A real man would go and get two girls snacks. You don’t expect me to go outside, do you? This late at night…I could get hurt real bad. Who knows what’s out there, oppa?”
“So basically what you’re saying is if I don’t get you something that means it’s time for me to leave?”
“I mean, are you going to just watch me practice for the next hour on the sofa like a creeper? That wouldn’t make you any better than the people outside then.” Krystal gave him the sweetest sarcastic smile she could muster. “Oops, I mean watch US practice, haha.”
“What do you want to eat, Krystal?” Krystal opened her eyes in shock as she realized her lazy sister had gotten up off the floor and was now hovering above her and Jonghyun. Her voice was short and curt, but patient nonetheless.
“What?”
“What do you want to eat Krystal? I’ll go and get it for you.”
“Oh, you don’t have to do that, it’s okay.”
“No, I’ll go. I’d rather go than listen to you guys for the next two hours.” Krystal wanted to feel bad at that point, making her exhausted sister so fed up that she wanted to leave the room, but she couldn’t help but feel a little proud at the fact her sister was spiting a little jealousy.
She looked up at her sister, noticing the bags under her eyes becoming more apparent, the corners of her lips becoming a little drier, her skin even more paler, and couldn’t help but hope that Jonghyun would notice the same thing. But he was sitting on the other side of Krystal, looking up at Jessica with a worrisome frown on his face.
“Unni,”
“Just tell me what you want to eat. I’m going to get something for myself anyway.”
“I don’t know, just get whatever.”
“Fine. I’ll be back later. You, -you make sure she doesn’t get in any trouble.” Jessica said to Jonghyun and made her way towards the back of the room where the couch was, gathering her belongings and putting on a huge oversized sweater that was twice her size. Krystal let her eyes draw upon Jonghyun again, who was in a daze staring back at Jessica. Krystal couldn’t help but smile and let her imagination wander at what the two of them could possibly do alone in a big empty space together.
It was wrong, she knew, but her imagination ran wild and she was doing everything she could to refrain from having dirty thoughts. In case Jonghyun or her sister were mind readers, she’d be potentially screwed.
“I don’t need a babysitter,” Krystal said, not really meaning the words coming out of her mouth. She loved the idea of having a babysitter. She could get into lots of trouble either way though, preferably with one.
“Yeah, yeah mature, I know.” Jessica said softly as she made her way towards the door.
“She’s not the one that needs the babysitter, wait.” Jonghyun spoke up, his words spinning fast and Krystal could practically hear the gears churning in his head. God, he was stupid. “Krystal’s right, it’s not safe for you to walk outside alone at this hour.”
“I’m a big girl, I can handle myself.” Is that flirtatiousness in Jessica’s voice? Krystal wondered.
“No, no. I’ll go with you. You can’t go out by yourself. Krystal can stay in here, nothing will happen to her. She can stay and rest.”
“But I’m not tired.” Krystal muttered, aware of the fact that the other two probably didn’t hear her. How did her plan end up so screwed so fast?
“I have to go get my jacket from upstairs first, and then we can go. Noona.” Jonghyun sing-songed the last word and Krystal could feel every inch of her body recoil.
“Okay, but let’s hurry up. It’s cold.” Krystal had seen the very prominent smile on her sister’s face as she turned to leave the room and waved goodbye.
“Yes, Sica noona.” Jonghyun replied back without even looking at Krystal once more as they left the room together.
Noona. What an ugly word. Krystal gagged as she threw herself onto the ground, suddenly very alone in the big empty room that had just been warm and cozy moments ago.
