we used to walk there and back..from our house near National college flyover to City Market (as we always called KR Market)..to see movies at Apsara, to buy fruits from the market, etc,..almost the route of your proposed walk :-)
Vokkalingara Sangha was vacant land in the early sixties..my grandmother used to say that it used to be a kere in her youth (early twentieth century) and they would picnic on its banks..
the baskets/basket weavers near makkala koota circle would also be good for photography...
sajjan rao circle also has one of the oldest maduve chatras in town..sajjan rao chatra next to the Subramanyeswara temple.(sajjan rao's house used to be across the road from vani vilas hospital on your route..i dont know whether it still exists as it was or has been 'developed')
if you end your tour at netkallappa circle, you can breakfast at the pioneering darshini - upahara darshini
wish i could have joined you on my nostalgia route..

aunty, we ended the walk at National College. and someone suggested that we go to some place where we can sit, adn the closest such was SLV on north road. so we went there.

and you were right about the baskets and basket weavers. we spent quite some time over there photographing them. and the kids there were way too enthusiastic and wouldn't let us go without taking enough photos of them.
