So, the free dating site OKCupid has started an experiment called MyBestFace to help singles figure out which photo to make the primary on their profile and which ones to leave off

I haven't given much thought to the good and bad of photos, though, after reading your list these are all things I definitely agree with (except... I don't know if having a child in a photo is an indictment of one's parental protection aptitude--it certainly makes me uncomfortable when I see pictures of people's children on publicly accessible sites--but uncomfortable in the sense that I couldn't imagine doing it myself, because, as you mentioned, children are too precious to have their security wantonly exposed to the world).
