Laptop Computers

I've been looking around a tiny bit for a laptop to take to college. I haven't been looking around enough to make a decision, but I have to say that one of two things is true: Either laptop manufacturers (or their webmasters) are quite out of touch with their consumers, or what I want in a laptop isn't very popular ( Read more... )

Yes, you are a demanding consumer. O__O LOL

I'm with you on the touchpad thing--I don't like them! I tried to use our friend Matt's one time and I just could NOT get the hang of it.

If they want convenient pointing, which I guess is supposed to be the point of touchpads, why don't they just make pens that click where you touch the screen? :)
I know... you couldn't hover your mouse over things, but anyone who needs to do that can get a real pointing device... a trackball. ;)

Yes! I'm sure that would make much more sense. ;)

I'm sort of used to the touchpad, except when I accidentally close something because I didn't realize the arrow was on the x button.

As far as 'puters...ME and 'PUTERS? LOL

Actually, that makes a lot of sense. I despise touch pads, because they never work when you want them to but rather only when you accidently hit them. And trackballs rock.
Speed however, is something that would be really important to me seeing as I'm the most impatient person on the planet.

Hear, hear!
Well, so am I, but speed is relative. It's gotten to the point that there isn't much difference in the noticed speed of a low-end processor and that of a high-end processor, except when doing processor-intensive operations. Anyway, most of the speed or slowness you notice comes from the amount and speed of the RAM. :)

I am very happy with my computer. I have a full size keyboard, real keys, and a touch pad that has a disable button right above it. It's not a little laptop by any means. This thing is so heavy!

I'm a bit behind here, but hey, I like geeky posts and can't let them go by =O My laptop is one of those hefty ones yet I only have 256MB RAM (I want to upgrade to 512 some day). I don't use the touchpad unless absolutely necessary and I have small hands so I'm okay using this small keyboard. However, I find it strange to go back to my dekstop keyboard. And this isn't integrated wireless either.

Yep, I'm sure all that helped you lots, eh? =)
