So it's apparently curtains for Sarah Palin's governorship and, reportedly, her political career. Rumors are already flying about an impending federal indictment concerning the possibility that she used building supplies purchased by the city of Wasilla for a sports complex in the construction of her home ( Read more... )

When I first heard the news, my first thought was that she's dropping out of public life before some sort of scandal hit. That seems far more likely than resigning in the middle of her first term in order to prepare for another campaign when it is well-accepted that her lack of elected leadership experience is one of her most obvious drawbacks. If there is a federal indictment on the way, her resignation won't stop it, but at least it would allow her to avoid the embarrassment of being removed from office ( ... )

i'm guessing that she's going to become a pundit for Fauxx News or some other wacko conservative-friendly news network. perhaps she'll even start a talk show and become the next (female, more overtly conservative) Dr. Phil. Whatever it is, I don't think she's about to disappear from public life, and i think whatever she does next will have to involve visual media (given how much her appearance has contributed to her appeal).
