From Bangkok

Well, we made it in safely and extremely tiredly to Bangkok on Sunday night. After picking up our luggage and passing through customs & immigration, we picked up a Taxi-Meter to the Nai Lert Park Hotel. Please, please eat a mangosteen while you're there... they're illegal to import to the US (some sort of fruitfly), but are supposed to be the most incredible fruit you can taste... someone I know has to have tried them!

Well, we've been eating all sorts of weird fruit, but I don't know that I've had a mangosteen. Can you describe it? What does it look like?

Tuk-Tuks get commissions for customers they bring to a store. You were INCREDIBLY wise not to fall for the gem-buying scam. Well done.

Yeah - I was definitely forewarned on that one. All the guidebooks and everyone I've talked to mentioned this particular scam. And I think even if I hadn't been warned, I'd have been mighty suspicious.

In the end, it's just kind of amusing.
