Hello! Various people have been recommending Neal Stephenson's Cryptonomicon to me, and I'd really like to read it. Does anyone have a copy I can borrow, please? That was quick! I should have a copy later tonight... blimey ( Read more... )

Once you've read Cryptonomicon you really will have to follow on and read the Baroque Cycle by the same author.

I'm way ahead of you, and 2/3 of the way through that - love it! Easily some of my favourite books in recent times.

Good for you, in my view it's even more enjoyable than Cryptonomicon. As an author he has a great style, bundling in a variety of information in way that often felt like he was enjoying a private joke with the reader.

If you haven't read Anathem then you might also wish to consider that.
