Belly Dancing (again)

With reference to my previous post on the subject, it seems we have several options:

a) Synergy Centre, on Tuesdays.
So far, elise, libellum, and roodypoo69 said they were interested (and missyk8 from March or so). I might go along on 5th Feb (if I can squeeze it in) - roodypoo69 too!, and various people also liked the 19th Feb, so I'll probably make that the one I specifically invite ( Read more... )

If you do a noth London, I might organise my energy to go. I had physio before I left for France and felt MUCH better for it. I walked down the whole of the Rue De Lafayette today and am still functioning and packing stuff :)

Batshit as ever. Jean-claude tried to chat up Emma, and Serge waved me at all his friends. I have returned with a very exciting DVD of their factory making the first silk FF stockings since the war, or somesuch. I tried to explain viral marketing and YouTube to them and that really didn't work :)

Oh fab! I'll let you know if I can definitely make it... would be handy, too, since I think you know how to get to the Synergy Centre, right?

The one at Pineapple is the kind where you turn up as and when and pay per session, so there's no commitment. I think it's £10 a lesson. The teacher is cool but a bit strange ( ... )

Thank you, that IS helpful. I take it those were the Asmahan classes I found?

I see the issue with not having progression... when Benjy and I used to go to Lindy Hop at Pineapple, the teachers tried very hard not to let that happen, and insisted you could not join after x weeks had passed. Of course people would drop out, so the classes got smaller and smaller, which wasn't so good for the teachers... but it was a really good class (well, course, really), and some of their students have carried on going to their other classes elsewhere.

I think I might give this a try to see whether I get on with it... it's very handy location-wise, at least.

Yes Asmahan was her name. She is quite amusing...

This is a completely rolling class so there is no 'after X weeks' kind of thing. I think in principle I would actually rather commit to a series of 10 lessons or something, as then there would be a strong incentive to actually turn up (whereas we used to go once and then let three weeks go by before the next time), and it would presumably progress from basic onwards through the ten weeks.

Also with the Pineapple one, it can get quite busy so turn up a bit early to ensure you get in (and get a decent spot in the studio). And you need to take a scarf or something to tie round your waist.

Cheers for the tips... I'll give it a go and see how I get on, I think.
