That is an interesting concept that I've not heard put forth before. Humanity moving progressively outward among worlds, this being our third planet and us not even knowing it.

How did it come to you?

I don't know. Divine Providence? I was watching a DVD of old 80s sitcoms that I bought. Synapses fire and something came out of the oven.
