The Most Amazing Thing I've Seen All Week

This boy, who had his eyes removed when he was three, uses echolocation to place himself in the world. He does things like play basketball and ride his bike. He is seriously awesome, and so is his family. Here's a video:

that is just **incredible**. I've watched the first video and half the second, and I have to go walk Molly, but when I come back, I'm going to watch the rest.

It would be great if he somehow could teach other people to do that.

(And yeah, his mom is great!)

Isn't it amazing? I'm glad they made a documentary about him so that there is a record of it now that he's gone.

Yeah, isn't that mindblowing? I saw him mentioned in passing in an Oliver Sacks article on mind plasticity, and I was like ??? So I had to look him up. It is amazing, a real superpower, and you can totally see how it could work.

On the Wikipedia page on human echolocation there is a bit on someone else who has this skill and teaches it to other blind people.
