I am going in for a colonoscopy this Wednesday. Today, I start my low-fiber diet. Not six hours, and I am already jonesing for whole wheat and gristly beef cuts.

That's because you can't have them. No really. Ever go for fasting bloodwork? You're suddenly starving at like 8pm at night even though you just ate, because you're not allowed to eat!

A low fiber diet? Is that just for the test, or longer term?

Just for the test. Two days of low fiber, one day of liquid, and several purging agents to make sure your colon is good and empty for the exam.

Usually I'm told I need *more* dietary fiber.
