Whatever you're doing... STOP. If you have a DVR/TiVo type thing, go get the remote and do a search for "American Loggers". In my world it's on right now on the Discovery Channel. It's about logging in Northern Maine. Home!!! Okay, not *exactly* home - I lived about half way between where these guys are and civilization, in every aspect. But ( Read more... )

yes..
I have seen it.. ok.. well.. snippets of it

and yes.. my first thought was..
'hrrmm.. Maine.. yup.. just as I remember it.. buncha trees and didn't Skita grow up there?'

it was more interesting than Ice Road Truckers.. I did miss seeing all the Canadians though (even when angry they were annoyingly polite..), but the only thing I didn't like about the show was the lack of crushed hippies..

with all those trees being cut down I would have expected to see at least two or three of the bark-huggers squished.. maybe I'm just watching too much South Park though

yet, that is just a minor thing and the show was still very enjoyable

but doesn't the show also take place in the NW and Oregon (which was being logged by helicopters)

after watching it.. it did reinforce one thing..

Logging + Nix = not an advisable career path

did anyone catch the No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain: Chicago edition?
that brought back many a memory for me

I think the WA/OR one is a different show...? Or a different segment of the same show? Somehow my Dad has the inside scoop on this one, and Discovery just committed to more episodes.

Also, remember that they're near the Canadian border - but it's Quebec. French-Canadians are very different than the angry polite ones from Ice Road Truckers. Trust me.
