Hmm, I've been wondering about Wicked Lovely and whether it was going to be one of those books about fairies/supernatural creatures that annoys me. Perhaps I'll give it a try.

Also, I had the same reaction to The Daughter of Time, though with a side order of that same exploding-brain feeling I get at things like "I had an Edward, till a Richard killed him." Seriously, y'all, invest in a couple of different names! The Wars of the Roses is one of those things I keep trying to teach myself and failing; it always turns into "Henry VI; mutter mutter Richard Edward; seriously, an Edward *killed* an Edward?!?; Richard III; aaaand Tudor jazz hands!"

The only thing about Wicked Lovely that irritated me was how ~*~alternative~*~ Aislinn, Seth, & Co. are. Yes, yes, tattoos and body piercings are ~edgy~ and people who have them are sparkly and a billion times more awesome than all us mundane types who get squicked by that stuff. *eyeroll

Ah yes, we poor mundanes who can't understand cool when it's staring us in our non-pierced faces... I have that reaction sometimes as well. In fact, I don't think I did it on purpose, but the main characters in my story-I-never-finished are as *ordinary* and un-rebellious as it is possible to be, and that's really important to me.

I know, right??? It is like they are wearing those mesh jerseys from PE class, and yet, still I am confused.
