It says in the synopsis that Matty is heavily involved, though. Liv meets up with him and then they decide to run away together.

No bb, I think the person you replied to meant that the synopsis for Nick's episode, post-Liv, heavily involves Matty. Therefore it wouldn't make sense if he ran away, because then he wouldn't be around to feature in Nick's ep.
