When I made a bath soak with my students for mothers day we used epsom salts and sweet orange and vanilla essential oil, let it dry on a tray, and then added packets of powdered milk. I tried some myself and it was nice, kind of an orange creamsicle but not at all overwhelming.

Mmm, that sounds lovely! I've never heard of adding powdered milk. Did you notice a difference in your skin? Softer/smoother? Or was it just for the scent factor?

I've used powdered milk in the bath before, specifically to sooth a sunburn so yes it definitely has some soothing moisturizing properties. Not so much of a smell, though. The scent in my last concoction was from the essential oils.

Ah, I'll have to remember that this summer in case I burn...I just got Ylang ylang oil to make my own bath salts, or maybe just put a few drops in bath water alone. Have you used essential oils for anything else?
