Ya dig my new avatar that my friend, Amanda, made? It's all sorts of awesome. :)
I had a meeting with a photographer yesterday that I don't think will pan out. He approached me because he's working on his portfolio. So we're chatting and he started talking about renting space for the shoot...then asked if I would share the cost of said rental. Uh, no. You approached me, not the other way around. Plus, it's not something super duper out of the ordinary from things I already have in my portfolio. So I explained that to him politely via e-mail today. *shrug* We'll see what, if anything, happens from that. I met with a fellow model today that I was very glad to meet in person for the first time. She's in her mid-40s but could easily pass as someone in her 20s. She's truly aging in an amazing way and she had a lot of advice to give. I think we're going to have a good friendship and hopefully an awesome working relationship soon. She digs the stuff I'm heading more towards (i.e. horror, on the fringe, etc) so that's always nice.
Folklorama on Sunday was pretty cool. I went with my Mom then my aunt and their cousin (who I refer to as an aunt) met up with us. We went to the Caribbean and Colombian pavilions, both of which are very good. The woman doing the limbo at the Caribbean show had a near nip slip. *lol* Her tit was falling out of the bottom of her bra but she was a champ (no nip was showing anyway) and kept going with her performance. The Colombian show was strictly all dancing which was nice in its way.
I went to Vita Health yesterday thinking I would get Holy Basil to help with my wakefulness/going to sleep normally pattern. However, a bottle was $60 which was a little steep for my liking. So I asked one of the girls working there what she suggested basically as uppers and downers. She quickly went to work coming up with a plan for me. She focused mostly on my feeling sleepy/groggy during day which should in turn balance things out for sleepy time. She suggested
yerba mate tea as it has the effects of caffeine without actually being caffeine. It's also supposed to absorb better than caffeine so there isn't a peak and crash (not that caffeine really does that for me like it does for a lot of people). Then she suggested I take
maca energy (either in capsule or powder form; I opted for capsules) in conjunction with the yerba mate tea. Funny enough, maca energy was under their "Libido" section and I wanted to say to her, "I definitely don't have that problem." *lol* Anyway, she said that she takes maca everyday and finds it gives her energy for workouts and such. She said because it's afternoon that I start getting really tired that I should take it at lunch and definitely not in the evening as that would fuck with my sleep. So that regime's total was half the cost of 1 bottle of Holy Basil. That's pretty good if it'll help! I drank plenty of yerba mate tea today (I got roobois and cinnamon flavour - yum!) and took a maca capsule when I woke up and one at lunch. It seemed to really help. My eyes felt a bit heavy, but I didn't yawn until 4:15 this afternoon and only once instead of a constant string of yawns. That's progress for me! I was also able to stay focused instead of feeling too tired to think and I felt a bit more energized. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this regime will work for me.
I have a weird discolouration/dry spot right under my eye that's red. Andrew told me on Friday that it looked like someone hit me in the eye. *lol* Great! I'm lotioning it up so hopefully it'll go away on its own.
