Question for you guys:

Ever notice how the people on this ship tend to be people that you couldn't stand back home? Hell, even a bitter enemy of yours?

It makes me wonder how deliberate Redd's choice is in plucking these people from our worlds. If it's a deliberate way to make the passengers' stay that much more hellish.

[He takes a deep sigh ( Read more... )

Do you know how much I would kill to see someone, anyone from my homeworld no matter how much I did or didn't get along with them?

Be here as long as I have, and then complain.

[Yikes. Someone's touchy.]

[Ed winces a bit at the man's words. He definitely seems to have touched upon a sore spot.]

...how long have you been here, if you're that desperate to see a familiar face period?

I'm approaching two years.

Two years?

And there's been no successful attempt to return back your own world within that time? Nobody's actually been able to do it?

[Remy's the first person he's encountered whose time on the boat extends past "a few months". Definitely not encouraging, to say the least.]

[Wolfwood chuckles.]

I don't think Vash would survive without me.

[You have no idea, Ed.]

He's a good boy, with his head in the clouds. Someone has to keep him grounded.

[Though Wolfwood would hate to admit that maybe it's the other way around.]

[Ed chuckles a bit. That sounds all too familiar to him.]

People used to say that about Al and I. He was usually the one who had to make me think a plan through or literally keep me grounded.

There are a number of people here with more allies from their worlds than enemies. Or no enemies at all.

And, of course, a good number of us with no one.

It just seems... odd to me. I seem to encounter an awful lot of people on here with the very people they made it a point to avoid back home. I'm hoping that I'm just over analyzing the situation too much, but it doesn't seem like stuff like that happens by chance.

Honestly, I can think of more people here who have allies than those who have nothing but enemies.
You may be over analyzing. Try stepping back further from your own issues.

However, I'll agree with you. I doubt Redd picks us by random chance.

[...not what he likes to hear, but Marco giving him a harsh reality check is definitely what he needs.]

I'm guessing it would be useless to ask what the bastard's reasons are.

I dunno... no one I know is here. I mean, there's people I know here, 'cause, you know, I've met them since being here. But I'm the only person here I knew back home. In fact, I haven't even talked to anyone who has even heard of Sunnydale before. Which is... weird. To me.

[He can't really imagine which would be worse, now that he thinks about it. Would he rather see a familiar - but unwelcome - face or be the only person from his own world? Neither is exactly a pleasant experience.]

I... that has to be very... lonely. Frightening, too. I can't even imagine.

[He's not terribly eloquent, but his sympathetic tone is very sincere.]

It was pretty scary at first. But, well, I don't know, I guess I'm used to being alone.

[He said it nonchalantly, but now he realizes how sad that must sound to someone who doesn't know how apathetic Andrew is about his lot in life.]

Uh, that's not to say, like, you should feel sorr--uh, it's okay, though! I'm not, like, lonely that I'm alone... Uhm...

Hey! Uh, I'm Andrew. I'm not, like, a sad person. Just so you know.

I-I'm just saying, it makes me feel like a bit of an ass for bitching earlier. I mean, hell, at least there's something familiar here. You don't really come off as a sad person so much as just... I dunno. Understandably frustrated?

[Gaaaah, he's so bad at this sort of thing.]

I don't know about that. A lot of my best friends from back home are here with me!

...er, but then again, so is one of our enemies. Maybe it works both ways?

[He tilts his head at that. A lot? Most people have a person or two, not an entire circle of friends. He's curious - he can't help it.]

Who came with you to the boat?

Reply

omnibender July 10 2010, 06:24:37 UTC
Well, I've only been here for a few days, so I guess I came to them... but there's Katara, Sokka, Toph, Hakoda, and Zuko here.

[Ed ticks off the names on his fingers - yup, he's talked with Katara, Sokka, Zuko...]

Are you one of these bender things, too? Katara can do stuff with water and Zuko told me he was a firebender. It seems like everyone from your world can do it.
