That's an excellent point about starvation! I quite like the idea that Mitchell is an unreliable narrator when it comes to vampire physiology and that the reality of the show is something different. It fits with my impression that the UK vampires in general aren't in many respects all that knowledgeable or well-organized.
Mitchell is an unreliable pretty much anything, bless his battered heart. :-)
I actually kind of love that the BHUK vampires aren't all that knowledgeable or well-organized, especially when they either believe or pretend that they are. I've had my fill of byzantine vampire politics in most universes, so the wrinkle that they put on the whole "we are ancient and powerful and wise and superior blahblahblah" parade when they're actually a massive train wreck is a refreshing wrinkle.

They definitely put a different spin on vampires in Being Human UK! It does make for some interesting storytelling opportunities.
