I just heard about this over at CBR. It’s really shocking and sad. I spent several minutes looking for a retraction at first. Mike was one of the major influences in the transition of my style in high school. He encouraged me to pursue the strengths of exaggeration combined with solid construction. Energy and joy permeated from his work. He was exploring and using animation design techniques way before it became vogue and his art encouraged me to do the same. The “Image” look was king when he started on Flash; his approach was daring and unconventional. It was also a breath of fresh are to a kid looking for something fun to read.
