Cafe sketching

Do you ever go to cafes to hang out over a cup and sketch the other cafe guests? It's becoming a much enjoyed pastime for me, and somehow the sketching helps me justify the expense of hanging out at a cafe after work. ;)

I always want to but I kind of feel a bit stalker and I chicken out. Do you try to look at them less, or do you make it obvious you're sketching people? Do any of your subjects get uncomfortable?

Most people never notice when I sketch them. I neither try to hide it nor make a point of it, I guess it judt doesn't cross most people's mind that I might be drawing them - I imagine that if they notice me at all they think I'm taking notes or something, and just happen to be staring in their direction from time to time. If someone gets fidgety and seems uncomfortable I just sketch something else for a while. Try it :)
