Cary, this is brilliant...and also a clear enough on the process that it could serve as a tutorial either on dA, one of the digital websites or in a mag.

I know very, very little about aircraft, but I got part of the story - the cabin open to the sky and the empty chair are very suggestive, which of course sets the eye looking for details and I saw the blood. I didn't quite get the fact he'd gone back to make sure the payload was delivered as I don't know enough about the machines, but what I did get was poignant enough.

Amazing details - both the perfect texture to the flooring, but also that colour of the sky with the subtle purple tinge to add to the pinks and greys.

Thanks! I'm very happy you took the time to examine the details, Inger, and that you liked the walkthrough! I always take plenty of WIP screenshots while working on something, both to protect myself (in case anybody ever doubts my work or, Force forbid - this picture mysteriously winds up where it's not meant to be), and to show a step-by-step process to anyone who might be interested in how I work (answer: in a very disorganised manner!), so I'm always glad when people get something out of the writeup. :)
