It's probably a good thing that my stomach can't handle coffee any more.

Hmm? What? At least this morning I have the excuse of not being entirely awake, but last evening I only had the excuse of it being the end of a very long weekend. I think I must have misunderstood your comment. I only meant that my rambles were much longer and more inane (if you can imagine that) when they were fueled by coffee. What is it you would like me to share with you? :)

Ooh, ahh, my first opportunity to edit a comment. Hurrah for that option.

It just hit me that you might mean share the music? 'Cos I can do that. Just say the word. :)

I was at the used bookstore this weekend and thought of your book recommendation, so bought the first book in the trilogy by Robin Hobb that you told me about. They didn't have the other two, so I'm slightly concerned that I'll start reading it, get a cliff hanger, and start walking around aimlessly because I don't have the other two. I'm going to keep my eyes open at some other bookstores, though. But had to let you know I have it and hope to start it soon :D

I bought the first one separately myself. I'd never read fantasy before and wasn't sure what I'd think of it. I even commented to my daughter as we were standing in line, "I can't believe I'm buying a book with a dragon on the cover." When I was nearing the end (two days later lol), I started to panic. The way things were going with the plot, I knew I'd have to have the next book immediately upon finishing the first, and the third immediately upon finishing the second. If you like it (or fall in love with it, as I believe most do lol) and get 3/4 of the way through and haven't found them, let me know. (Don't be shy.) I have a commission credit at Amazon and there are loads of used copies available there; I'll be happy to order them and have them shipped to you.

Signed,

The Enabler ;)

yeah I had never been into fantasy myself until the past couple of years, but I'm starting to appreciate it more. See that's what I fear will happen - and in my current state of unemployment I read ridiculously fast, so I think I will perhaps not start the first book until I have the next two in sight. Because I KNOW I will finish it and be like GASP!OMG! and then be unable to find out what happens. I might just break down and by them because unfortunately I am very shy. It's alright though - it sounds like it will be worth it and I have free shipping on amazon for another week.

>>Because I KNOW I will finish it and be like GASP!OMG! and then be unable to find out what happens.

You won't even finish it before you get to that point. I had a couple of chapters left and realized there was no way that any of the plot points (major or minor) could be tied up before the end - there was just too much going on and I had to know what happened next. Please don't be shy! (Though it's a shame we can't combine my commission credit with your free shipping, because I've found that even though you can buy used books very inexpensively through Amazon, they're through third-party vendors and the free shipping doesn't apply to third-party vendors. So, yeah, you get a book for $1.75, but have to pay $3.99 shipping, so you're almost better off buying it through Amazon itself getting the free expedited shipping and a brand new book.) I am serious though - if you can't find them used in a store near you, let me know. Yeah, okay, I know you won't ... sigh. But the offer still stands. :)

I like the book better than the movie (Garp, that is) but that's usually the case, isn't it? There was so much to the novel that just couldn't fit in the film. And some things were twisted in the film, like when Jenny and Garp went to live in New York instead of Austria, but those kinds of twists happen often in many film adaptations. Still, I enjoy them both every time I indulge myself in them. I recently bought the DVD for myself, when I was buying it for my son for his birthday. :)

I'm not sure I'll ever be able to tell you if The Name of the Rose is as good as the movie. I've only seen the movie once and thought it was excellent, but I've tried and tried to get into the book and think I've found a cure for insomnia in it. I'm tempted to try again, but skip the first 100 pages or so, because a review I read said that's where the story really begins lol. I'm surprised you had to send away for the DVD. I saw it on sale at Amazon the other day for under $10. Maybe when you bought it, it hadn't been released in the US yet.
