I always thought that one of the main problems with book banning is that it underestimates children. Look at Bridge to Terabithia, where often the arguments for banning it have to do with the religious discussions, or dealing with death. What I hear when people say kids shouldn't be exposed to such things is that the parents don't think the kids are smart enough to think about it critically. And even more ridiculous is when adults cite Bad Guys as Improper Role Models. Of COURSE they're improper role models. They're Bad Guys. Do they think kids can't recognize that and identify with the Good Guys instead?

I have successfully managed to avoid nearly all of the hubbub surrounding the book, the reviews, the spoilers, the hype, etc, and I'm quite happy about that. I am, however, dying to read the book! Can I borrow it when you're done? :D
