"Why Haven't You Seen This Movie" Night

There's been talk of having a few gatherings of various kinds at my place in the near future, and one of the suggestions was a movie night. But, a simple movie night isn't enough, so, after having this conversation with multiple people, multiple times, I propose to you:

oh man that is a great idea that I may have to steal from you (since sadly I'm a bit out of the way to make it to this one LOL)

wasn't there some list someone did of the 1000 films to see before you die? might make a good reference. I was actually doing that myself for a while...finally saw the Godfather movies and some other ones that I was too young/not alive for. ...oh! here it is, I think.

Okay, so here's the thing - I'm probably going to be available at some point on either Saturday, July 17th or Sunday, July 18th, and possibly Sunday, August 1st, but I'm waiting for some plans to solidify before I actually fill out the WhenIsGood thing. But I definitely wanted you to know I am on board with this plan.

As to suggestions:
-Lost in Translation
-The Godfather
-Equilibrium
-Kill Bill
-Brokeback Mountain

I'm sure there are more, too!

While I'll probably never make it up there for a movie, I'd like to suggest my best picture nominees method. You may not feel like going through all of them, but I have to say that some movies that I never thought I would like impressed me hugely. Some movies that I thought I had to see were unwatchable. If you decide to skip that method, watch "Witness for the Prosecution" and "Sunset Boulevard". Of course, Hitchcock movies rock. Laurence Olivier really is all that. Likewise, you can't really go wrong with Bogart. If you aren't just interested in the "Classics", Tampopo is 100% awesome. And if you like giant monsters, you can't go wrong with the original Godzilla.
