Not weird! Fun!! :D What sorta ones are you looking at?
The first two that spring to mind for me to highly recommend are the "Logo, Font, and Lettering Bible" which is just amazing, and "The End of Print: The Grafik Design of David Carson" which isn't exactly about typography, explicitly, but is amazing in examining Carson's unconventional use of it.
